Homework Thursday, 1/26

Pre-Algebra: Make up 8 problems involving rules of exponents, negative exponents, etc. Solve them ON A SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER. Someone else will be solving your problems soon enough.

Algebra: Tomorrow is the last day for assignments due after Winter Break and before this week (Monday the 23rd).

Homework Wednesday, 1/25

Pre-Algebra: Pg. 202 - 203 #32 - 40, 43 - 50, 56 - 59, 71, 72

Algebra: Radical Quiz Review Worksheet. Here are the answers.

Note that I either can't or don't know how to type radical signs into this blog, so I will use a capital 'R' instead. So, if I put "5R10" as an answer, that means "5 times the square root of 10" (it does NOT mean "5 remainder 10"), and "4R6 / 9" is "4 times the square root of 6, all over 9." If you can't figure out how to decode the answers, just ask me tomorrow.

1) -5R6
2) 5R5
3) 0
4) 6R15 / 5

5) 15R2
6) 24
7) 4R11
8) 11R2

9) 6R10
10) 30
11) 48R6
12) 49
13) 50R3
14) 4R7
15) 3R2 (I made a mistake here and did not simplify R18, which many of you noticed)
16) 8R2 / 5
17) 9R5 / 20
18) 3R2 / 2
19) 3R7 / 7
20) 9R14

Homework Wednesday, 1/11

Pre-Algebra: Pg. 185 - 186 #29 - 36, 53, 61 - 63

Algebra: Pg. 532 - 533 #1 - 3, 31 - 34, 45

Monday, January 9, 2012

Homework Monday, 1/9

Pre-Algebra: Pg. 185 #20 - 28, 41 - 46
Remember that you must not only simplify the fractions, but also write the prime factorizations for the numerator and the denominator.
For example, to simplify 6/10, you would factor 6 into 2*3 and 10 into 2*5, then simplify the fraction into 3/5.

Algebra: Pg. 532 #4 - 12

Homework Friday, 1/6

If you still have missing assignments from after Winter Break that you are waiting to turn in, now would be a great time to get those done.

Other than that, I did not assign weekend homework in pre-algebra or algebra in order to make students like me.
