The first two problems require you to construct a graph and read the intercepts without having an equation to work from. Make your graphs carefully, as you will be graded on accuracy. If you notice you are too far off on #23 (which should have the answer in the back), then for #24 I might recommend increasing the scale on your graph, and make 2 or even 4 squares per unit.

Test Thursday!

Algebra Students:
Here are the answers to your homework assignment tonight. Work the problems on your own first, then check your answers here. You must correct any that you miss, and once again that does mean reworking the problem, not just writing in the correct answer. It doesn't matter if you get them all right or all wrong (although you may want to practice some more if that happens), if you come to class tomorrow with the assignment done and corrected, your score will be 8/8.

Grades and Corrected Assignments

In case anyone is wondering, TeacherEase is being tempermental and won't let me enter in any new assignments right now. Homework that was assigned Thursday is therefore not entered yet, but I have been able to update the scores for those of you who have turned in old corrected or late assignments. If you still have a 0 in TeacherEase, that means I have not yet seen that assignment from you!

Homework Friday 9/23

Pre-Algebra: None. Don't forget about the test on Thursday!

Algebra: Pg 85 - 86 #12 - 15
Some of the problems are not worded as clearly as we might like, so here is some help with #13:
In part b, they mean 15 seconds after you start the stopwatch, not after you start moving.
In parts c & d, you started at the top of the hill going 0 miles per hour, and then began coasting.
You have a test this Tuesday, so come on Monday ready to review!

Thursday, September 22, 2011

Pre-Algebra Book Reminder

Those of you who took home a pre-algebra book over the summer and will be in algebra this year, please bring it in as soon as you can! Our first class meeting will be this Thursday, and I would like to get all the books returned and checked out to the pre-algebra class by Friday.

If you took a book home and will be in pre-algebra this year, just keep it for now and write down your book number so I can keep track of who has which one. Thank you!

Nova Math, 2011

Greetings Nova students and parents. This blog is where you will be able to keep up with information for your pre-algebra and algebra classes this year. I will regularly post assignments, updates, important dates, and anything else I feel like sharing throughout the year. It's not much to look at yet, but please check in once the school year starts and things start happening.

As the year gets going, you will also be able to find information on both Mathcounts and Roosevelt Service as they come up. As we said during Parent Orientation, Mathcounts will start sometime after Cross Country ends, either late October or early November, and will be either Wednesdays or Thursdays after school (to be determined...).

Also, please note that while I have presumptuously titled this post "Nova Math", it is not for all our math classes. Mo's blog is still the place to go for Transition Math, and Mr. Kehoe's blog is for Geometry.
